AoBM Concern over President Trump’s Jerusalem Decision
The Association of British Muslims views with great concern President Trump’s decision to unilaterally recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
East Jerusalem is under Israeli occupation and intended to be the capital of an independent Palestine.
The decision jeopardises the ‘2 State Solution’ and stability in the Middle East.
No other country in the world has taken this decision, as the international community awaits the Israeli and Palestinian negotiators to decide between themselves the future of Jerusalem, along with the rest of Israel and Palestine.
Our view is that the status of Jerusalem is for the Israeli and Palestinian people to decide among themselves, and this is not a decision that a leader of any other nation can rightfully make.
