Sharing a Message of Peace, Love and Hope

“Through creating contemporary, positive and reflective music Aa’shiq al-Rasul (AAR) intend to increase people’s understanding of one another to help build social bridges globally whilst working with all faiths and cultures towards sharing a message of peace, love and hope.”

Amran Ellahi – AAR Founder (1998)

True to its founding principles UK based Aa’shiq al-Rasul have been reaching out to local and international communities to share the message of peace, love and hope both with those who share the common bond of Islam or otherwise.

Whether appearing as a special guest at the Christmas Carol Service (CCS) held at the Birmingham Cathedral to raise funds for Kidney Research UK and Renal Live Donor Fund or participating in Musituality alongside Bhuddist Pianist Rich Batsford and St Mary’s Schola Choir or performing for the Eid Reception at No. 10, the multi-faith, multi ethnic audiences have been delighted to share in the cultural experiences of their fellow Muslim citizens.

Sarah Johnson Community Fundraising Manager Kidney Research UK captured the audience response at the CCS “ … – it was brilliant to hear you all and people have been so complimentary ….” At Musituality, Rev. Canon Peter Howell-Jones remarked “The variety and quality of the music was both stimulating and broadening for all attending … once again it is music that has had such a significant effect in helping to bridge some of the misunderstandings or gaps in how people of different faiths relate together” At the Eid Reception hosted by PM Cameron, the PM remarked that the band is “absolutely outstanding”.

The nasheed group also does inter faith workshops such as the one done with the South Shropshire Interfaith Group. Here such traditional elements as the call to prayer, the reading of the Qur’an, and the Andalous repertoire first developed in medieval Muslim Spain were considered in terms of how these relate to Christian, Jewish and Muslim traditions of devotional music.

At the national level Aa’shiq al-Rasul have performed in support of numerous charitable causes over the past decade. For more information on the activities of Aa’shiq al-Rasul you can visit the band’s website at www.aashiqalrasul.com
